Owyhee Jasper Cabochons

Owyhee Jasper is a colorful and popular picture jasper that derives its name from the Owyhee River. This material has been offered under several trade names including: Owyhee Jasper Agate, Owyhee Junction Jasper, Owyhee Picture Jasper, and Owyhee Picture Rock. Owyhee Jasper is basically petrified mud. There are three jasper mines within a mile of each other, the LED, Wildhorse and Rocky Butte. The Classic Owyhee Jasper has a wide variety of patterns and shapes. It is known for its bright colored scenic patterns, with and without, blue sky.

This jasper depicts desert scenes, high mountain ranges, winding roads and meadows or even the seas. Owyhee picture jasper is a natural wonder depicting the great beauty of the earth it was born in.

There are nice warm earth tones throughout this cabochon from a classic location that is now difficult to obtain rough from.  This isn't the best patterning of this material that I've seen (Which is why I bargain priced it.), but it's still a nice cabochon, and would make a beautiful bracelet or pendant.  Approx. size: 29x21  Weight: 21.35 cts.

Long, thin cabochon with nice warm earthtones.  Honestly, I had this cab sitting on my table for awhile with a bunch of other cabs, and everyone that walked in, picked this one up first.  It would look good as a pendant or large ring....maybe even a bracelet.  The backside isn't fully finished.  Approx. size: 35x 12  Weight: 18.6 cts.

Nice warm earth tones and swirly patterns accentuate this rather large freeform.  It kind of looks like a fallen tree log on the cab's center right.  Approx. size: 28x35  Weight: 38 cts.
