Dendritic Opal Rings
Dendritic opal is a form of chalcedony with dendritic inclusions
through the
stone. The name comes the “tree like” patterns that somewhat resemble dendrites.
The stone is usually grey to white to light brown in colour. The manganese dendrites
vary in colour from brown, and grey, but mostly black. While it doesn't have flashes of color like precious opal, it still
commands a fair price and is one of the best selling of the gemstones that I've cut myself.
