Prehnite Rings
Prehnite is a translucent to transparent mineral sometimes
used as a semi-precious gemstone, usually either green, clear or yellow in color. Named after Colonel Hendrik von Prehn,
a dutch explorer, this mineral has the distinction of being the first gemstone to be named after a person. Colonel von
Prehn is said to have brought the stone from Africa to Europe circa 1774. It is an attractive collection mineral
with color usually a pleasant green and at times quite unique. Typical prehnite forms crusts with a botryoidal, rough or crystaline
texture.
