Brazilian Agate Slabs
Agates are identical in chemical structure to jasper, flint, chert, petrified wood, and tiger's-eye, and are often
found in association with opal. The colorful, banded rocks are used as a semiprecious gemstone and in the manufacture of grinding
equipment. An agate's banding forms as silica from solution is slowly deposited into cavities and veins in older rock. The
stones can be artificially stained to produce combinations of color more vivid than those found in the natural state. The
cutting and staining of agates has long been centered at Idar-Oberstein, Germany. These agates come from Rio Gran de Sul
in southern Brazil.
I was cleaning up some old boxes of things that I kind of forgot
I had and I came across a few nice things including these polished agate slabs. They're nothing special, but they are top
grade and some of them are really pretty. I thought I'd share some of them with everyone and throw them up on the website
for sale.

This one came out a little darker in the photo than it actually is in real life. The bright orange ring around the center
really stands out in contrast to the rest of the agate! Approx. size: 60x56x4
