Obsidian Cabochons
Obsidian is a type of naturally occurring glass, produced from volcanoes when the right kind of lava cools
rapidly, for example by flowing into water. It consists mainly of silicon dioxide. The color of obsidian varies: iron and
magnesium can give the obsidian a dark green to black color, and it sometimes develops a beautiful light reflective sheen
that can be colored gold, silver, red, green or blue. It is often found in translucent, but can be opaque also, and have numerous
different inclusions. Obsidian is commonly used for ornamental purposes, and can be found throughout the world.
