Flow Obsidian Cabochons
Like all obsidian, flow obsidian is highly siliceous lava that was cooled very, very quickly. This
material comes from Glass Buttes, Oregon and it has characteristic flow bands of black and red. Also, when held to the
light, there are flow bands of opacity and transparency which sometimes, but not always, correspond to the color banding.
In addition, it is not uncommon to find red sheen along the red striped areas. All in all, this particular type of obsidian
makes a wonderful and interesting gemstone!

This free-form cabochon is somewhat trianglar and mostly black with just a little red on the tip. If you move the cab
in the sun just the right way, you can get a small hint of red sheen off of it, but it's not very prominent. It totally
looks awesome when you look at the light going through it though! Approx. size: 19x27 Weight: 11.5 cts.
