Moab Agate Cabochons
Back in the 1950s a rich deposit of uranium ore was located south of Moab, Utah. This led to a small
mining rush as prospectors came from all over in hopes of striking it rich by finding uranium. During this time period,
deposits of agates were discoverd in the wilderness in several places within 25 miles of the town. The agate has different
colors and patterns depending on what deposit they came from. There is a white agate, and a red moss agate from
the area besides the material I have offered here. Technically, this wonderful pink and orange spotted material, is
a jasper and not an agate, as it's quite opaque. The gentleman who collected it, and that I acquired it from, called
it "Moab Agate" so I'm sticking with that. As far as I know, I am the only one offering this gemstone for sale.
