Jasperized Stromatolite Rough
Stromatolites (blue-green algae) are some of the first life on earth, and lived approx. 2.1 billion
years ago! This material was collected in Norway, Mi. and is truly beautiful with a wide variety of colors including:
red, maroon, yellow, peach, pink, brown and white. While not true jasper,(It was described by a local geologist as "jasperoid.") it
is very silicified and makes a good solid cutting rough.

Nice wavy patterns in this piece that shows the layering of stromatolites that is the origin of this rough

Mostly shades of maroon and brown on this piece, but it has great patterns formed by the fossilized stromatolites.

Large piece with beautiful streaks of yellow and red. Some of this piece resembles moss agate, other
parts have great swirly patterns from the fossilized stromalites, and all in all, it's really an awesome and unique piece
